Our Founding Pastor, Fr. Flannan Walsh, died today at North Florida Regional Hospital. Today I was returning from Charlotte, North Carolina and was informed on the road that Fr. Flannan had passed away. Because of poor health he had been living quietly in Gainesville for several years.
Fr. Flannan is affectionately remembered and respected by many in Gainesville. He began as the first Pastor of Holy Faith when the parish was established on March 1, 1973. He was also the Founding Pastor of Queen of Peace Parish in Gainesville in 1987.
Please remember with me our Founding Pastor in your prayers. May God grant him light, happiness and peace and the rewards of his faithful ministry among us.
